What is a good time for online English classes after school in the UAE?

A good time for online English classes in the UAE is when your child is rested, has eaten and is not rushing to the next activity. For many families that means late afternoon or early evening on school days, or a weekend morning, since UAE schools run Monday to Friday with a shorter Friday. Little Lingos sets class times around your child’s availability in UAE time, so you can choose slots that fit school, homework, activities and family time.

Key takeaways

  • Pick a time when your child is rested and fed, not straight after a long school day.
  • UAE schools run Monday to Friday, and Friday is usually a shorter day.
  • Friday afternoons and weekend mornings often work well.
  • Younger children usually do better earlier; teens can fit around homework.
  • Keep the same slots each week so classes become a routine.

How does the UAE school week affect class times?

Since January 2022, schools in the UAE have followed a Monday to Friday week with Saturday and Sunday off. In Dubai, the regulator KHDA told private schools that Friday classes must end by noon, which leaves Friday afternoons free for many families.1 School start and finish times still vary by emirate and by school, and many children have after-school clubs, sport or tuition. Start by writing down your child’s fixed weekly commitments, then look for two or three regular gaps.

Which times tend to work for each age?

  • Ages 3.5 to 6 (Seeds): earlier in the afternoon, after a rest and a snack, and well before bedtime. Young children learn more easily when they are fresh.
  • Ages 7 to 10 (Sprouts): after a short break following school, either before or after homework. Some children like class first and homework after; others the reverse.
  • Ages 11 to 15 (Blooms): around homework, revision and activities. Weekend mornings or Friday afternoons often suit busy teens.

Watch how your child feels in the first few classes and adjust if they seem tired or rushed.

Are Friday afternoons and weekends a good choice?

Often, yes. A Friday afternoon class can start the weekend with something fun, and a Saturday or Sunday morning slot avoids the after-school rush. Weekend classes also let a parent sit nearby for younger children. If your family travels at weekends, a weekday slot may be easier to keep regular.

What about Ramadan, holidays and travel?

School hours in the UAE are usually shorter during Ramadan, and family routines change, so many families move classes to a different time for that month. During school holidays or travel, you can keep classes going from anywhere with an internet connection, or reschedule. Little Lingos allows up to 2 reschedules a month with 24 hours’ notice, and class recordings are available for 30 days.

How many classes a week should we book?

Two or three 40-minute classes a week suit most children: often enough to build skills, with time to practise in between. Busy weeks are easier with two; children preparing for a big step, such as a new school, may like three or four. Our guide to how many classes a week explains the trade-offs.

Questions parents ask

Questions parents ask

What is the most popular time for online English classes in the UAE?

There is no single time that suits every child. Many families choose late afternoon or early evening on school days, Friday afternoons or weekend mornings. The right time is when your child is rested and can keep the same slot each week.

Is it too much to have an online class after a full school day?

Not if the timing is right. A short break and a snack first make a big difference, and a 40-minute live class with games and speaking feels different from more schoolwork. If your child seems tired, try a weekend or Friday slot instead.

Can we change class times during Ramadan?

Yes. Many families adjust class times during Ramadan because school hours and routines change. With Little Lingos, class times are arranged around your child’s availability, and you can reschedule up to 2 classes a month with 24 hours’ notice.

Can my child join classes while we travel in the summer?

Yes. Classes are online, so your child can join from anywhere with a laptop or tablet and a steady internet connection. If a class falls during a flight or a busy day, you can reschedule with 24 hours’ notice or watch the recording.

Are class times in UAE time?

Yes. Little Lingos arranges class times in UAE time for families in the UAE, so you do not need to work out time differences.
