For parents Progress
How will I know my child’s English is improving?
At Little Lingos you see progress in three ways. Every Friday you get a short WhatsApp garden update with one word to practise at home. Each term you get a garden report that shows your child’s growth in speaking, reading, writing and listening, with notes from the trainer, followed by a parent-trainer call. It all starts with a written level report on the day of the free demo class.
Key takeaways
- A Friday WhatsApp update every week, with one word to practise at home
- A term garden report covering speaking, reading, writing and listening, with trainer notes
- A parent-trainer call each term to talk the report through
- A seed-paper certificate that grows real flowers at every new level
What is the Friday garden update?
It is a short WhatsApp message from your child’s trainer every Friday. It says what your child learned that week and gives you one word to practise at home. For example: “This week Anaya planted 12 new words and read her first story aloud. Ask her about ‘puddle’!” (Anaya is a sample learner.) It takes a minute to read and gives you something to talk about at dinner.
What is in the term garden report?
The term garden report shows your child’s growth in each of the four skills: speaking, reading, writing and listening. Each skill has notes from the trainer on what your child can now do and what comes next. Each stage runs four themed terms, so the report also shows where your child is in the stage. You get it at the end of every term.
What happens in the parent-trainer call?
Once a term, after the report, you talk with your child’s trainer. It is your chance to ask questions about the report, share what you see at home and hear what your child is working on next. If something is not working, such as the batch time or the class format, this is a good moment to raise it.
How does my child see their own progress?
Children watch their own word garden grow: every new word plants a flower. Each stage has projects children can show the family, such as a Rhyme Time Show in Seeds, a comic book or mini podcast in Sprouts, and a debate or newsroom segment in Blooms. At every new level, your child gets a seed-paper certificate that you can plant to grow real flowers.
Where does progress start?
It starts with the free 30-minute demo class. While your child plays a few word games, the trainer listens for sounds, words, reading and speaking. The same day you get a written level report with your child’s starting stage, their strengths, one focus area and a recommended batch time. Every later update is measured against that starting point.
Questions parents ask
Questions parents ask
How often will I hear about my child’s progress?
Every week. You get a Friday garden update on WhatsApp, a term garden report at the end of each term and a parent-trainer call each term.
Do I get a report after the free demo class?
Yes. The same day, you get a written level report with your child’s starting stage, their strengths, one focus area and a recommended batch time.
Which skills does the term report cover?
All four: speaking, reading, writing and listening, with notes from the trainer on each one.
Can I watch a class to see progress myself?
Yes. Classes are recorded and shared with the families in that class for 30 days, so you can watch any class again.
What should we practise at home?
Start with the word in the Friday garden update. Ask your child to use it in a sentence, or to tell you a short story with it. Small, regular practice works better than long sessions.
